The Book Signing was a Huge Success

We have so many people to say thank you to today...Candy & Will at Grounded Coffee Shop for hosting Evan's book signing; Bob for handling all the press; Aria, Liza and Torri for helping Evan by organizing the signing process; Sam, Miriam and James for manning the table selling copies of the book when we ran out; Mary for making sure everything ran smoothly while also talking to every person in the room; the family, friends, neighbors, teachers and therapists that came to support Evan; families and individuals living with epilepsy who shared their personal stories; individuals with service dogs and trainers who brought new awareness about service dogs; and the people we've never met before who came to buy books, make donations and offer their support. The event was a great success and we are all exhausted!

Evan was so impressive and signed every copy until we ran out! We sold 150 copies and then took orders for additional copies.

Evan loved having the opportunity to meet serveral service dogs today and he even got to give some of them treats!

Evan Moss: Greatest Person of the Day

Wow! The Huffington Post just did a story about Evan as the Greatest Person of the Day...

Greatest Person of the Day: 7-Year-Old Evan Moss's Inspiring Fight Against Epilepsy

It's a huge honor and will undoubtedly help us with fundraising and book sales. Hopefully I won't end up with an egomaniac for a son -- so far so good. I read the article out loud and Evan listened politely and when I had finished said, "Can I watch YouTube on your phone?" Tom and Jerry has bigger play the Huffington Post for a 7-year-old!

Evan is Officially a Published Author!

As of tonight, Evan is officially a published author and he doesn't even know it yet because he's asleep! We set up an event page on Facebook for his book signing and somebody (other than his mother) bought a copy of his book through the online sales area we set up!

My Seizure Dog by Evan Moss

At the beginning of the school year he said he wanted to be a famous author when he grows up. I guess at 7 years old he took the first step in that direction!

Thank you for buying his book and supporting Evan as he works toward the goal of getting a Seizure Dog! I know what the dog will be trained to do but I have a feeling it will help Evan in ways we aren't even aware of yet.

It All Starts With a Prescription

The last time we were at the hospital we came home with this golden ticket: a prescription for a Seizure Dog! Interestingly, service dogs are viewed as durable medical equipment and require a doctor to write a prescription. As I watched Dr. LaJoie write this and sign her name, I couldn't help think about how our lives were about to change.

We will be able to look back on the day Evan was handed this prescription as a defining day for him. It marks the beginning of a journey that will undoubtedly be a life changing experience for the whole family.
